The Super Falcons of Nigeria, newly crowned champions of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), will hold a celebratory trophy parade in Abuja on Monday.
The Nigerian women’s national team secured their historic 10th WAFCON title on Saturday with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco, reaffirming their status as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
The players and coaching staff are expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by noon. From there, they will embark on an open-roof bus parade through major districts of the Federal Capital Territory, with the iconic trophy proudly on display.
The planned parade route includes Airport Road, Berger Junction, Maitama, and Wuse Market, and will culminate at the Presidential Villa in Aso Rock, where the team will be formally received by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Nigerians are expected to line the streets in large numbers to welcome the champions, while top government officials and prominent figures in the sports community are also expected to attend the reception ceremony.
The victory parade is set to be a moment of national pride, celebrating the resilience, talent, and achievement of Nigeria’s Super Falcons on the continental stage.
