Zulum inaugurates committee on recruitment of primary, secondary school teachers 

Borno state governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, Monday evening, inaugurated a committee for the recruitment of  primary and secondary school teachers for both the old and new schools constructed by the state government.

The committee which comprised 23 members is being chaired by the outgoing state Commissioner for Education, Engr. Lawan Abba Wakilbe, and Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Hajiya Ashatu.

The governor tasked the committee with the responsibility of creating policies and guidelines to ensure well-qualified teachers are employed within the state’s education system.

He reiterated that the importance of the committee’s work could not be overstated, as teachers play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the citizenry by imparting knowledge, skills, and values to the younger generation.

The governor charged the committee to diligently work to develop effective policies and guidelines that would enhance the professionalism and effectiveness of teachers in the state, and ultimately contribute to the growth and development of the education sector in Borno state.

He also directed them to recruit qualified teachers out of the catchment areas of Borno North, Borno South and Borno Central, to bridge the gap to meet up with the terms of reference towards enhancing standard and quality of education in primary and secondary schools.

Responding, chairman of the committee, Engr. Wakilbe assured the governor of the determination of the members to carry out their assignment diligently to meet the educational requirements of the state.
