Zulum approves August salary ahead Eid el-Kabir

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno state, Tuesday night approved the immediate payment of 2018 outstanding leave grants to 9, 898 workers.

He also approved the payment of gratuities to families of 185 deceased pensioners and compassionate intervention to families of 236 pensioners, who had also passed on to the sum of N773 million.

The governor then directed the Head of Service, Alhaji Mohammed Hassan to immediately ensure full payment of August 2019 salary of workers before Friday, 9th August , 2019 to enable the workers spend their Eid el-Kabir Sallah festival which is scheduled to hold  a day after the Mount Arafat Day in Saudi Arabia. 

The governor had last month approved payment of gratuities to 1,684 pensioners who retired from 2013 to date.

He tasked the Head of Service and Ministry of Finance to ensure that all  payments are effected on  bank accounts of all the  beneficiaries within three days.

The governor also approved the payment of furniture allowances to two permanent secretaries who were on seat in the in office on the day the governor paid an unscheduled visit to the Musa Usman state Secretariat complex, Maiduguri on May 31, 2019, 48 hours after his inauguration and assumption of office.

It would be recalled that when Governor Zulum visited, he  trapped absentee permanent secretaries, directors and other categories of workers along with many late comers. 
The governor promised to sanction the absentees and those who arrived late while promising a reward for the permanent secretaries and 96 other workers that he met on ground in the office.
