Zaria LG earmarks N260m to pay staff salary

Zaria Local Government in Kaduna State has earmarked the sum of 260,300,933.40 for payment of Staff salaries and other entitlements.

The Supervisor (Finance and Administration) of the Local Government, Alhaji Aminu Aliyu has said while briefing Journalists in Zaria shortly after meeting the Local Government Executive Committee on Monday.

He said the sum will be spent out of the local Government’s federal allocation for the month of January of the total sum of 261,562,539.00

Aliyu explained that the committee had approved the following payments:

a.   payment of monthly pension 26,364,435.28

b.   60% contribution for health workers salary 24,192,901.19

c.    Teachers’ gross salary 139,584,719.20

d.   Local government staff gross salary, payee, pension contribution, union dues and NHF inclusive 29,388,021.21

e.   1% Training contribution for local government service Board 1,616,049.60

f.      0.1%Admin charge 261,562.54

The Supervisor further stated that the balance stood at 40,154,849.998

Other expenses he said include contribution to Zazzau Emirate Council, enhancement of security, pension sinking fund, KASU entrepreneurship training for youth and women, Calabar Carnival, solid waste management operation put together will gulf the sum 29,954,244.58

The Supervisor added that the Committee also approved the following expenses at the local government level

a.   security matters 2,000,000.00

b.   overhead cost and other allowances 4,375,000.00

c.    Councilors’ over site function 1,200,000.00

d.   Final account preparation 800,000.00

e.   Governor’s Cup 563,000.00

He pointed out after all the expenses the balance in the local government account stood 1,262,605.40

Therefore, Alhaji Aliyu assured the good people of the local government area that the State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmed El-Rufa’I temper with nothing from the local government allocation or account.

However, he thanked god, the State Governor and People of the area for the support and prayer to the local government administration, he equally thanked the local government’s Contractors for their understanding and patience
