Zamfara renovates, 2 Day schools

Zamfara state government has awarded contracts worth over N590 million for the total renovation and reconstruction of two Day Secondary Schools in the state. Th e benefi ting schools included Government Girls Day Secondary School, Bungudu, and Government Day Secondary School, Danbaza, in Bungudu and Maradun local government areas, respectively. Speaking while presenting the contract notifi cation letters to 24 indigenous contractors, the Acting Governor, Malam Ibrahim Wakkala, said the contracts comprised total renovation and reconstruction which included provision of structures of classrooms, staff quarters and supply of furniture, teaching and learning materials.

Wakkala said the work at the Government Girls Day Secondary School, Bungudu, would cost about N414 million while the Government Day Secondary School, Dambaza, would cost over N177 million. According to him, the aim of given the contract to indigenous contractors is to assist them as well as boosting the economy of the state. He pointed out that the projects was part of the state government’s policy of reviving the education sector and complement the federal government eff ort in reviving education sector. He said from 2011 to date the state government, under the leadership of Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, had spent billions of naira for the renovated and expansion of primary and secondary schools across the state. He charged the contractors to ensure quality and speedy work in line with the contract agreement and specifi cation.
