Zamfara pays FUG host communities N340m lands compensation

The Zamfara state government has finally paid N450 million as compensation to 1,450 lands owners where the Federal University, Gusau (FUG) is located.
Speaking during the formal handing over of the cheques to beneficiaries, the Zamfara, the  state Governor Abdulaziz Yari, who was represented by the Secretary to State Government, Prof, Abdullahi Shinkafi, said  his administration was committed to ensuring proper take-off of the university since it is the only university the state has.

Yari pointed out that his government will ensure just, fairness in view of settling the controversial compensation to the lands owners in order to enable the University run its programs without any obstacles.
Similarly, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Magaji Garba, commended Yari for settling the compensation to the lands owners, saying the institution will now have a legitimate right to run its courses without facing any inconveniences by the lands owners.

Magaji further reiterated his administration efforts to establish more faculties that will enhance human and economic development particularly on mining engineering, agriculture, and other science studies for the development of education, communities of Zamfara and beyond.
In his remarks, the state Commissioner of Land and Housing, Alh. Sharu Anka, said seven communities which include Sabon Gida Ta Gabas, Sabon Gida Ta Yamma, Damba, Kwana Nadama, Gidan Baidu, Gidan Kwaire and Gidan Magaji were slated for the compensation.
