The wife of Zamfara state governor, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, Friday, launched a one-day sensitization on the importance of measles rubella (MR) vaccine in the state.
The event was held at Garba Nadama Hall, JB Yakubu Secretariat.
She said the sensitization campaign on measles rubella vaccine will reach hard to reach communities in order to ensure every child receives the vaccine.
According to her, every child from 9 months to fifteen years will be vaccinated.
She further said the sensitization is geared towards ensuring prevention of measles epidemic among children.
Hajiya Huriyya pointed out that the vaccination is free, noting that the vaccine is not harmful.
She further stated that the state government will partner with all the relevant stakeholders, MDAs, religious and traditional institutions in the state to safeguard the health of children in the state.
She urged traditional institutions and religious leaders in the state to support the government on the campaign for the successful implementation of the exercise in the state.
