Zamfara councilors impeach council chair

Councilors of Anka local government in Zamfara state have announced the impeachment of the council chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Mohammed Anka.
In a letter signed by the 10 councilors of the local government, they said the resolution was based on the power conferred on them by section 26 of the Local Government Law 2000, to impeach the chairman when found wanting.

The letter further said that the council chairman was found wanting in withholding the sum of N7.5 million meant of council members.
According to the letter, the council chairman had been running a one-man show, a situation that led to “gross mismanagement of the council resources”.

They, therefore, found his activities at variance with constitutional provisions in running administration of council.
The letter said after careful observance of the constitutional provisions, the councillors resolved to impeach the council chairman, Alhaji Mustapha Mohammed Anka, with immediate effect.
