Zamfara: Coordinator lauds contingent for strong showing at NYSC DG’s festival

The Zamfara state National Youth Corps (NYSC) coordinator, Alhaji Abdulsalam Alhassan, has commended Team Zamfara for representing the state very well in the just concluded zonal preliminaries of the NYSC Sports and Cultural Competition in Kano state.

The week long competition featured corps members from Sokoto, Kebbi, Jigawa, Katsina, Nasarawa and Bauchi states who competed in drama, dance, comedy, volleyball, football and athletics.

Alhaji Alhassan noted that the commitment, passion and disciplined behaviour exhibited by the corps members even when they are not indigenes of the state is the hallmark of patriotism.

The coordinator promised to support the corps members to ensure they put up better outings in future competitions.

Blueprint gathered that Team Zamfara emerged third best in the drama category and also showcased exciting presentations in the dance and stand-up comedy sessions, but it was deemed not enough by the judges to make the medals table.

In sports, Team Zamfara also displayed a good showing in volleyball and athletics, with the football team going as far as the semi-finals.

Corps members who participated in the competition thanked the state coordinator for his support for ensuring they have the opportunity to display their talents.

According to them, the programme provided them the opportunity to positively socialise with their colleagues from other states as well as expose them to new cultures.
