Zamfara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused governor Dauda Lawal Dare of embezzlement of N1 billion Naira for renting of political crowd for his return to the state after Court of Appeal judgement
The state publicity secretary of the party, Yusuf Idris, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent.
The party accused governor Dauda if withrawing a whopping one billion Naira from the state’s joint account with the local governments in order to facilitate his own reception rally.
“This is coming on the heels on a voluntary reception rally earlier organized for the former governor and now Minister of State Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle by his supporters, admirers, well wishers and political party associates who turned out in their large numbers to welcome the Minister on his visit to the state after the Court of Appeal in Abuja declared the state’s last governorship election inconclusive,” he said.
According to APC, records have shown through files at government custody that the said amount was withdrawn but even at that, only N200 million was used across the local governments to mobilize the rented crowd while the balance of N800 million has remained unaccounted.
“Mr. Dare must stop wasting public funds on such unnecessary venture when he could not even visit victims of families who have lost their loved ones to bandits activities or who have been dismembered, cut off from their homes with their properties and animals carted away or destroyed by the criminals who Mr. Dare declared would not exist in the state in his first one month in office,” the statement reads.
The party called on people in the state to be wary of the treachery being perpetrated on the state’s meager resources and join APC in calling the governor to order before he completely ruin the state.
