Yuletide: NSCDC mobilises 1,800 personnel in Ondo

As part  measures put in place at ensuring a safe and secure festive season in Ondo state, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has mobilised 1,800 personnel to safeguard lives and property during the yuletide.

The deployment, outlined in the Command’s Operational Order, seeks to deter criminal activities, maintain public peace, and provide comprehensive security throughout the festive period and beyond.

The Commandant Oluyemi Ibiloye  stated that operatives have been strategically stationed at high-risk areas, flashpoints, and other critical locations.

Key focus areas include religious centres, recreational venues, shopping malls, motor parks and government facilities to forestall any potential breaches of peace.

He stated that the personnel, drawn from specialised units such as the Counter-Terrorism Unit (CTU), Anti-Vandal Squad, Special Female Squad (SFS), Mining and Agro Rangers, and the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRNE) Unit, will work alongside the Intelligence and Investigation Department and Quick Response Squad. Collaboration with other security agencies is also integral to the operation’s success.

Ibiloye urged officers to maintain professionalism while fostering cooperation with sister agencies. He reassured residents and visitors of their safety and appealed to the public to celebrate responsibly.

Criminal elements were warned to stay away from the state.

“Let us all embrace peace and make this yuletide a joyous one for everyone. Any criminal caught disrupting the peace will face the full wrath of the law,” he said.

He also encouraged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies for swift intervention.
