YSFON to FG: Bring back NSF, focus on C/wealth Games

The President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON), Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna has beckoned on the federal government to revive National Sports Festival after years of abandonment.

Also, Alhaji Gawuna has called for adequate preparation of Athletes ahead of 2018 Commonwealth Games slated for Gold coast.

“The revival of the National Sports Festival should also be a source of concern to the government.

“It is quite unfortunate that since the last festival was held, all efforts to host another has been hitting the rocks.

“This is the bedrock to discover our hidden talents and if the aging ones are no longer able to carry on, the vacuum created will affect our outings in major international sports assignments. We should be ready to develop our own and the time is now,” Gawuna said.

The YSFON Boss advised youths in the country to shun all form of vices and channel their strength in developing themselves through sports.

Gawuna, who is also the commissioner in charge of Agriculture in Kano State, said in line with the objectives of the body, this year will witness a new direction in its activities.

He said that the involvement of the youths in sporting activities will be highly promoted to ensure those hidden talents across the country discovered during its competitions will be encouraged to better their lots.

Gawuna, said, sports as a veritable instrument for economic development should be taken serious by the teeming youths in the country.

He said that YSFON’s programme which also focus on the education of the youths will create the enabling environment for the talents to be harness to greater stars while not negating their future development through proper acquisition of necessary academic requirements.

The President also revealed that this year’s Ramat Cup will be held in Kano just as the other competitions will take place as scheduled.
