Youth’s response to govt’s challenge

In response to government’s challenge to the youth to be more productive, a 29-year-old Keffi youth in Nasarawa state has bagged two degrees in the medical profession.

Dr. Salisu A. Maikasuwa recently obtained B.Sc. degrees in medicine and surgery from the Gulf Medical University, Ajaman, in the United Arab Emirates.

Maikasuwa’s effort is worthy of emulation as the federal and some state governments are now trying their best to train more medical personnel for the large populace, especially in the rural areas where it is estimated that the ratio of doctors to patients is 70,000 patients to one doctor.

This writer is of the view that there is need for a deliberate government policy where the youths could be encouraged to embrace the medical profession for the benefit of all Nigerians.
