Youths deserve attention – Al-Makura

Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa state has called on government at all levels to pay maximum attention to youth development in order to enhance their productivity.
He made the call yesterday in Lafi a when he received participants of Course 26 from the National Defence Collage, Abuja, on geostrategic study tour to Nasarawa state.
Al-Makura explained that majority of the nation’s populace were youths and, therefore, should not be dispersed and neglected, but government should interface with the youths and engaged them “because they deserved our sympathy and care rather than to ignoring them which they may be harmful to the society.
” He further said the situation was very sympathetic considering that most of the youths come from broken homes where their parents were struggling to survive their meal fi rst before their children’s education which he urged for a quick fi xed job for the youth.
Th e governor said youths needed a quick fi xed job which may not be necessarily within the statutory system of government, but will reduced to the barest minimum of their restiveness.
He added that in the case of Nasarawa government “is working round the clock to evolve policies and programmes aimed at engaging youths into productive ventures since the inception of his administration in 2011.
” Earlier, leader of the delegation Ambassador CW Wigwe, who is also the provost of the National Defence Collage, Abuja, said they were in the state to synergise with the state government in ensuring proper skills acquisition to youths and engaged them into diff erent ventures.
He said the team comprised 20 persons and 13 participants, including one colonel from Rwanda and one from Chad with a theme “Youth Empowerment and National Security Issues and Development.
