Youths council expresses confidence, hope in President Buhari’s 2nd term

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) on Wednesday expressed confidence in President Muhammadu Buhari to consolidate on his achievements and turn things around for the betterment of all Nigerians during his second term in office.

Comrade John Oladele Nihi, the NYCN National President stated this in his congratulatory message to the President on Wednesday in Abuja.

”We finally have a credible hope for a Nigeria that works for the people.

”Today is about the Nigerian people. Today is about the perseverance of the Nigerian spirit, and the tireless quest to survive at all costs.

”The wholehearted eagerness to remain united, despite myriad forces that continuously hindered us from thriving beyond the mediocrity that we have witnessed over the past few years.

”We are confident that the peace and the ongoing development in the country in terms of the infrastructural development, human capital development would be sustained and consolidated,” Nihi said.

Nihi stressed that the President had done well in the area of youth empowerment programmes, which had had greater impacts in the lives of the Nigerian youths across the country.

Nihi highlighted such programmes to include: the Presidential Amnesty Programme, N-POWER, Tradermoni, Market money, among others, saying the programmes should be sustained and consolidated for enduring peace.

”We are so over joyous for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari, and we extend our sincere congratulations to our dear President.

”We wish you success in performing the important and responsible duties of repositioning this country to the Next Level.

”Today, we have witnessed ‘Change’ at the center of our democracy. The juggernaut-sized power of incumbency has been neutralized by the dogged-determination and zeal of our countrymen.

”In this regard, without resorting to diminish the ‘Berlin Wall-like fall’ of the Goodluck Jonathan-led government by the opposition APC, and without making light of President Buhari and the APC’s victory; with all due respect, today’s victory is not about Buhari.

”But the victory of President Buhari would send a message to every young Nigerian that it does not matter how many times you knock on a door, what matters is that you do not stop knocking.

”Just as we have seen today, after many prior attempts at the Presidency, General Buhari has attained the highest seat in the land yet the second time,” Nihi said.

He added that Buhari’s victory would remind the “live-only-for-today” politicians, that after many years of one-party rule, the people had finally have a say in the affairs that concern their governance.

The youth president further extended their congratulations to the good people of Nigeria for peacefully exercising their sovereign and democratic right to elect their leaders.

He opined that the choice they had made was a tribute to their courage, as well as their determination to safeguard their freedom, dignity and keep Nigeria firmly on the road to sustainable development.

”We salute Nigerians for designing and investing in institutions that promote and defend the peaceful expression of a sustainable democratic environment.

”We look forward to commence our activities in Nigeria in the interest of providing humanitarian services to our people; particularly those who have suffered tribulations, agonies, pains and suffering under Booko Haram heinous attacks,” Nihi said.

He, therefore, restated the commitment of the youth to providing humanitarian services to Nigeria and help broker peace in the country’s six year of Boko Haram terror campaign; a view shared by the millions of Nigerian youth around the world.

He added: ”With such conviction, on behalf of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, we pray that God Almighty would guide President Buhari, as he starts to steer the affairs of Nigeria and wish him success in all undertakings in his tenure as President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

”I am sure that your government will bring Nigeria into her best years. Our best days are just ahead of us as a nation. In your integrity we believe sir!

”God bless you sir and happy reign as the democratically elected President of our great nation”.
