The news  of Alhaji Yahaya Bello  as replacement for Prince Abubakar Audu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the November 21 governorship election, over the weekend  sparked protests at Itobe in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.
It was gathered that the protesters blocked the Niger bridge which connects Kogi Central and all the nine local government in the eastern parts of the state forcing motorists to make U-turn, while some others resorted to continue with their journey through  the waterways at Shintako.

The protesters who are Igala youth but sponsored by some APC politicians from the district  said they will not watch a situation where the governor, Speaker of the state house of assembly and the chief judge of the state will all come from the same zone.
A traveller who identified himself as Uche Ogochukwu  said he had to make a detour to avoid running into the protesters, while he was on his way to Abuja from Enugu state.
He complained that his journey was delayed for over two  hours  and had to lobby and begging before the protesters could allowed him to pass.

According to him “I  had no option than to even offer bribe to have my way out of the place. But the most annoying thing was that the this protested remained there for hours without any security agents coming there to disperse them making them to have a field day ”
Meanwhile the Police Public Relation Officer Mr William Aya in a statement called on parents to call their children to order, saying the police command would not condone any act that contravene the law.
assuring that the police is already after the sponsors of the protest.
He added that whoever caught would definitely face the full wrath of the law, noting that nobody acn block a federal road without police approval.
