The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, and the Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Mallam Shehu Dikko, have pledged their continued support for the FAME Foundation.

The tournament, organised by the FAME Foundation, featured eight teams. Team FIFA emerged as the champion, defeating Team FAME 1-0 in the final.

Minister Olawande commended the resilience of Nigerian women, emphasising their crucial role in nation-building.

“Women are critical to nations’ building, and no society can exist without women,” he said. “As such, we cannot ignore them.

“For you to know the importance of International Women’s Day, I vacated my seat in the office for the minister of state for youth development to take charge because it is their day,” Olawande explained.

Minister Olawande reiterated the federal government’s commitment to supporting women’s empowerment initiatives

NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko also praised the achievements of women in the sports sector. “Women are the most critical people in the nation’s sports sector,” he said. “They have achieved more in sports than their male counterparts.”

Dikko commended the founder of FAME Foundation, Arabirin Aderonke, for her efforts in promoting the girl-child.

“The founder/CEO of FAME Foundation comes from sports, so it’s our project, and over the years we’ve been supporting her, and we will keep supporting and collaborating with her foundation,” he said.

NSC Chairman Dikko also pledged the commission’s continued support for the FAME Foundation.

Founder of FAME Foundation, Arabinrin Aderonke Atoyebi, expressed her gratitude to God for guiding her foundation throughout the years.

“We must celebrate our women because every day a woman is beaten, every day a woman is denied her rights, every day a woman is denied her leadership position, and every day a woman is facing one challenge or another,” she said.

Atoyebi emphasised the importance of promoting women’s empowerment and celebrating their achievements.

“It is our little way of celebrating Nigerian women,” she said.
