President Bola Tinubu has described the General Overseer of Citadel Global Community Church, Oregun, Lagos, Pastor Tunde Bakare as a fearless advocate of the people, and an embodiment of integrity.
President Tinubu stated this in a speech presented at the 70th birthday celebration of Pastor Bakare and the launch of his autobiography, held at his church auditorium in Oregun, Lagos.
Tinubu acknowledged the desires of Bakare for a better Nigeria, which earned him the respect and admiration of people committed to a better Nigeria.
The president who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, said Bakare’s national leadership role is worthy of celebration.
According to him, the cleric has remained a beacon of inspiration to the present generation, and deserves Nigerians’ commendation and accolades.
“It gives me great joy celebrating a man whose life has continued to inspire many to patriotism and humane disposition toward others.
“An advocate of truth, whose stance on national issues has remained forthright.
“I celebrate your distinguish career on and off the pulpit and your relentless for a better Nigerian society, those your signposts influenced humanity better,” Tinubu said.
The celebrant thanked God for his infinite mercy as he disclosed that he was the last of his father’s 22 children and the only child alive today.
Bakare said “I was called into the ministry via the Deeper Life Church, The Redeemed Church and later the Latter Rain Assembly, and now the Citadel Church. My next call may be a call for national service. Nigeria, here I come,” he said.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos in his remark, described Pastor Bakare as a special child of God, preacher, change agent, and promoter of good governance, adding that he is a father and mentor who remains an epitome of honesty, dedication and service, with unblemished record.
