Yobe: SUBEB boss returns to class room

As part of effort to revitalize education across the state, the newly appointed Executive Chairman of Yobe state Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Professor Musa Alabi has returned to teaching at Njiwaji, his former primary school in Damaturu.

Professor Alabi, who was Vice Chancellor, Yobe State University for almost a decade, said going back to class became imperative in his quest to upgrade the standard of education at the primary level.

“I came here very early in the morning to commence my teaching assignment alongside other primary school teachers.  The aim was for them to have sense of belonging and to be proud of their profession.

“We are laying a solid foundation for primary schools in Yobe.  The education of our people have been relegated to the background, therefore I believe that our problems will soon be history, “ he said.

He said going to back to where he commenced his primary school is home coming.

Alabi promised to improve the welfare of the teachers through regular promotion, provision of soft loans and provision of staff quarters.

The head teacher of the school, Bello Bulama told Blueprint that he is confident that the new Executive Chairman will do them proud by looking at their plight.
