Yobe recommences payment of N10, 000 stipends to 7020 vulnerable

Yobe COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (YB-CARES) Thursday recommence the payment of N10,000 each to 7,020 most vulnerable persons across the 17 local government areas of the state.

The head of delivery platform, Ali Modu Kagu, said the stipend will be given to the 7, 020 beneficiaries in the state for the period of 12 months to cushion the effects of COVID-19 and also to improve their household consumption.

He stated that the 7,020 beneficiaries are categorised into three which includes, the aged persons, chronically ill and persons with disability.

“Initially, we had 3,510 and now it is 7,020 and we are expecting more scale up from the state governor by God grace next year,” said Kagu.

In her remarks during the stipend disbursement in Damaturu, Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Dr. Mairo Ahmed Amshi, said the cash transfer is a programme of World Bank in collaboration with Yobe state government to assist the most vulnerable persons in the state, particularly the aged people with disability and those chronically ill.
