Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state Thursday flagged off the distribution of 30,000 bags of 10kg rice donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation to vulnerable persons across the 17 local government areas of the state.

Speaking at the flag off at the Government House, Damaturu, governor Mai Mala Buni said the rice palliative is to support people, particularly the less-privileged and vulnerable in the society across the state.

He extended his deepest gratitude to the steadfast partner, the Aliko Dangote Foundation, for its generous donation.

“This contribution significantly bolsters government efforts to address food insecurity.

“Over the years, the foundation has proven to be an invaluable ally, supporting Yobe state, not only through humanitarian aid but also via primary healthcare initiatives, such as routine immunisation programs.

“This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to alleviating hardship among displaced communities and victims of recent fire outbreaks, while advancing our administration’s mission to enhance food security,” Governor Buni stated.

He commended other development partners who have aligned with the policies, contributing to the stability, recovery, and sustainable growth of the communities.

He also urged people of the state to actively engage in agriculture, adding that together, they can achieve food sufficiency and long-term security.

Abubakar Mohammed from Kano, a representative of Dangote foundation explained that the  foundation has been providing humanitarian services for many years in areas such as health, shelter, education, nutrition, feeding programs, among others.
