Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna state yesterday blamed saboteurs bent on truncating government’s efforts in resolving the insecurity ravaging the country for the gunmen attacks on villages in Sanga local government area.
Speaking when he received the forum of secretaries of the 23 local government areas, Yero said the timing of the Sanga attacks showed that some people were determined to sabotage efforts at reducing the present level of insecurity in the land.
He said: “The attack came on the same day that stakeholders from the federal, states and local governments were in Kaduna for an international conference aimed at ending the conflict between pastoralists and farmers in West and Central Africa. As we know, the attacks are of international dimension.
“That was the same time that some people decided to attack innocent citizens in Fadan Karshi and other areas. Obviously their target was to put a dent on the international conference and that was unfortunate.”
He cautioned the people taking advantage of the crisis for political gain to desist, while he urged those making negative comments in traditional and social media to use their ability for the progress of the community.
“It is unfortunate that some people instead of contributing to efforts at de-escalating the crisis are using their intellectual capacities to negatively incite people. If they truly love the people, they should use their intellectual abilities to promote peace and unity, which is in the interest of all.”
Yero condoled with the local government council and the people of Sanga, promising that government would continue to do all it could to protect lives and property.
