Yari proposes N130bn budget for 2018

Governor Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari of Zamfara state, yesterday, presented a budget estimate of over N130 billion as the state’s 2018 appropriation bill to the state House of Assembly.
Tagged “Budget of Consolidation”, the governor said over N84 billion was allocated as capital expenditure while about N46 billion was set aside as recurrent expenditure, explaining that the 2018 budget will give emphasis to agriculture, education, health care delivery among others.
Under sectoral allocation, the governor said, the economic sector consisting agriculture, livestock, forestry, manufacturing, power-supply, transport, commerce, cooperatives and finance, will receive the sum of N33. 4billion.
Environment sector was allocated the sum of N22. 1billion to carter for water, drainages, housing, town planning and community development, while administration received the sum of N7. 3billion.
Governor Yari then appealed to members of the Assembly to expedite action in the quick passage of the appropriation bill with a view to enabling his administration start its implementation from the first week of January 2018.
Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Sanusi Garba Rikiji, assured speedy passage of the budget after careful scrutiny by the members.
