Dr. Hassan Ikrama has called on members of the public to go for regular checkup on mental health to guard against suicide.
The CMD made the call at an event to commemorate the world ‘suicide-day on Wednesday in Lafia.
He equally advised people to always share their challenges to families and friends in order to get relief and free themselves from anxiety.
Speaking, Dr. Paul Agbo, a consultant psychiatrist, stressed the need to create more awareness on suicide in order to address incidences.
Agbo identified some of the risk factors of suicide to include poverty, divorce, unemployment, and mental illness among others.
He, therefore, said regular mental health checkup, counselling and adequate care for loved ones would go a long way to preventing suicide.
