Stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Baraka Umar, has thrown her weight behind Hajiya Ladi Mohammed for the position of National Women Leader, stating that she is a unifying force for women and the North West zone.
Hajiya Ladi, who is the Zonal Coordinator of the PDP Women Vanguard in Kaduna State, said Dr. Baraka as a committed party member had used her time, resources and wealth of experience to render unalloyed support to the PDP and even non-members in the entire zone North-West, when the party was engulfed in legal battles for the national leadership.
“The PDP has suffered victimization orchestrated by men of undemocratic values; however, in this trying time Dr. Baraka Umar has continuously used her time, resources and wealth of experience to render unalloyed support to PDP.
“We see her as an astute politician, detribalized and strategic in planning and implementation of human developmental policies, which is why we endorsed her for the seat of National Woman Leader of our party at the coming National convention”, she said.
Speaking on the reconciliation of the Markarfi and Sherif factions, she said Kano State PDP has remained intact despite rumoured defections that never happened.
She praised the effort of Hajiya Ladi, stating that she fought like a true political war-horse and as the arrowhead for reconciliation in Kano State and the entire North, ensured that defection never happened.
“We see in her person the charisma of a leader and we have appealed to her to vie for the job of National Women Leader in the state. We are of the conviction that with Dr. Baraka Umar, PDP will take over power” she added.
