Women civic engagement key to inclusive representation – NWTF 

As part of efforts to advance gender equality in democratic institutions, the Nigerian Women Trust Fund (NWTF) has held a train the trainers workshop on continuous voter education for women in Edo state.

The workshop, according to the group, underscored the importance of empowering women in democratic process ahead of the September 21 governorship election.

The training is also in line with the European Union Support to Democratic Governance in Nigeria (EU-SDGN) programme.

Chief Executive Officer of NWTF, Brencla Anugwan, in her remark said investment in women’s civic engagement, would contribute to a more inclusive and representative democracy.

She said participants at the workshop would be equipped  with the knowledge and skills necessary to ensure that women across communities are not just registered voters but informed and active participants.

Represented by the team lead of the group, Veneza Odegbe-Gregory, the CEO stated that the participants are expected to train 50 women each to deepen the knowledge in organizations and communities.

The CEO added that “over the course of this workshop, we will explore innovative strategies, share best practices, and collaborate to develop effective tools and methods for reaching out to women of diverse backgrounds,” she stated.
