Rotary Foundation has continued to help children, the poor and the less privileged in the area of providing good health, medical outreach, potable water and improved education, as part of its service to humanity.
Past Assistant Governor (PAG), Emmanuel Haruna, who stated this during the zone 3 Foundation Lunch in Kaduna, said Rotary Foundation is the heart of Rotary International, adding that any contribution to the foundation is a great service to humanity. He urged the guests and Rotarians alike to donate generously to the lunch, noting that nothing is too much to give to the society and whatever is given will get down to the people.
“Our motto in Rotary is ‘Service Above Self’ the core of that service is enabled by Rotary Foundation. By giving to the Rotary Foundation, your giving is converted into service project for the purpose of humanity. We have lots of projects, but the advantage of our foundation is a network of 1.4 million today. In 1988, we made a promise to the children that by the time we are done with polio, no child on earth would suffer it. By today, we have eradicated polio 99.9%.
“In Kaduna state we provided clean water, health, education. Every year, we have medical mission which goes to people who cannot afford health and give them healthcare. We have sunk many boreholes and we have gone to where cattle and man share drinking water and separated them. In Abuja alone, we built four hospitals and donated to government.”
