The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT), Nyesom Wike said he is open to forgiveness if Fubara apologise over the political crisis in Rivers state.
Wike and Fubara had been at loggerheads shortly after the latter became governor in 2023.
The crisis between the duo affected the state House of Assembly, a situation that led to factionalization of the legislature in the state.
As the political crisis started degenerating into insecurity challenges, President Bola Tinubu had declared a state of emergency.
Tinubu also suspended Fubara for six months while appointing a sole administrator.
When asked in an interview if he would forgive Fubara if he asks for it, Wike replied in the affirmative, saying: “Sincerely.”
Wike revealed that two governors approached him to resolve the feud between him and Fubara, adding that he told them he was resolved to make peace with his successor.
“These two governors came to me and I said, ‘look, I am here for peace. What does he want?’ and they said, ‘look, we will do everything.’ In sincerity, if anybody comes, it must be in sincerity. The best opportunity was when the President intervened,” Wike stated.
