Acting chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, Monday said corruption in Nigeria was no longer as common as it used to be.

Magu also said huge amount of money has been recovered from Benue state House of Assembly members who diverted the funds meant for purchase of cars.

He added that investigation was still ongoing in the case.

Magu, who stated this in a chat with newsmen when he visited the EFCC Makurdi zonal office, noted that corruption in Nigeria is no longer as it used to be in the past.

He said political inclination in the fight against corruption was no issue adding that if one is corrupt, irrespective of their political affiliation, the anti graft commission will go after them.

He said the two governors the commission had convicted were members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He said the commission, as at Monday  was carrying out a raid in Ado Ekiti.

“We are at the moment raiding a place in Ado Ekiti and we are going after the internet fraudsters popularly known as yahoo yahoo boys,” he added.

Magu called for partnership with the anti corruption agency to enable them tackle effectively issues of corruption in the country.

“Corruption is beating everybody. It is like rain and we need to carry everybody along because it is a disaster.

“We cannot do it alone. It is our desire to mobilised everybody in Benue and Nigeria to join the fight against corruption and that is why we established the offices,” he stated.
