We’re taking advantage of Gombe’s favourable business environment – Dangote

Africa’s wealthiest businessman, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has announced intention to harness the Gombe state’s vast mineral resources to establish a cement manufacturing plant.

Speaking to newsmen after a closed door meeting with the state government officials, Dangote indicated his company’s readiness to take advantage of Gombe state’s favourable business environment.

This strategic move is poised to capitalise on the state’s rich deposits of limestone, coal, and gypsum, potentially positioning Gombe as a leading cement producer in Nigeria.

He noted that Gombe state under the leadership of Governor Inuwa Yahaya has provided a good template for his company,  adding that the time is ripe to take full advantage of the huge limestone, coal and gypsum deposits in the state and commence cement manufacturing.

“Governor Yahaya’s administration has created an investment-friendly climate, particularly with the development of the Muhammadu Buhari Industrial Park,” he said.

Dangote described the industrial park as a catalyst for economic prosperity.

The industrialist commended the governor’s pragmatic approach to governance and investment, highlighting the state’s advantageous location near Borno, other North-eastern states, and neighboring Cameroon.

In a further boost to the state’s economic prospects, Dangote took a patriotic step by significantly reducing diesel prices from over N1,600 per liter to approximately N1,100 per liter. This reduction is expected to lower transportation costs, thereby decreasing food prices and alleviating the financial strain on consumers across the region.

Also speaking, Governor Yahaya emphasised Gombe’s status as the top state for Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria and its readiness to welcome investors. He said with its abundant solid mineral resources and impressive infrastructure, Gombe is set to become a prime destination for investment and economic growth.

He added that the  partnership between the Dangote Group and Gombe state is a testament to the power of collaborative efforts in driving economic development and prosperity.

He said  as the state gears up for a surge in cement production, the future looks bright for Gombe, its residents, and the nation at large.
