We’ll renovate schools, build more – SUBEB boss

The Executive Secretary, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Jigawa state, Alhaji Sani Abdullahi, has said that there would be more transformation in both primary and secondary schools in the state.

According to him, this will be made realisable because of the support given to them by Governor Sule Lamido.
“We have all the list of schools that we built, renovated and the additional ones provided in all the 27 local government areas of the state and we will continue to renovate more and build more additional ones,” he said.

Speaking to correspondents at the weekend, Abdullahi said “SUBEB has never and will never have an abandoned project in the state; that is why we have authentic records of all our projects sites and the contractors executing each and every project.”
He added that the board was aware of the shortage of classrooms in some areas like in Jigawa Sada and that “because of that we are asking the director in charge to include it in our next time intervention so that we will get them additional classes.”

“However, for prudence use of the scarce resources and equitable distribution of learning materials, including schools’ furniture, equipment and laboratories, whenever we are handling projects, let say N1 billion is given to us, we will use the exact amount in our supplies.
“There was no time we said, we had finished providing furniture for over 600,000 students in the state; because it is a continuous process.”
