We’ll deal with violators of grazing law- Benue government 

 


As the two weeks ultimatum given for herders doing open grazing elapses, the Benue state government Wednesday said it will not spare anyone who insists on carrying out open grazing in the state.


The deputy governor of Benue state, Dr. Sam Ode, flanked by Force Commander of Operations Whirl Stroke (OPWs), Major General Sunday Igbinomwanhia, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order, Bemsen  Mnyim and other security council members stated this while briefing newsmen in Makurdi.


He said there is no space for open grazing in Benue and anyone caught will be seriously dealt with.


He further said the security forces are ready to fully implement the Anti Open Grazing Law and violators will no longer be tolerated following the end of the ultimatum last Tuesday.
Commander of OPWs, Major General Sunday Igbinomwanhia, who also spoke said the ultimatum which lasted two weeks was part of none kinetic approach to allow violators a room to exit.
He said the committee which he headed was given mandate to supervise the exit of the herders during the window period, and use kinetics method against those who resisted.
