We’ll continue to agitate for more ministerial slots – Ngwu

The Senator representing Enugu West senatorial zone, Osita Ngwu, has said that they were not relenting in their quest for more senatorial slots for the South East.

Ngwu who said that they were not comfortable with the five ministerial appointments given to Ndigbo, said though they would not be confrontational about it but would employ dialogue to achieve the desired objective.

The Senator who stated this in an interview with newsmen in Enugu, weekend, said that he and the South East Senate Caucus would do everything humanly possible to see that the zone was not relegated to the background but treated fairly, lamenting that whereas some zones had as many as 10 slots, South East is given only five.

According to Ngwu, the South East Senate caucus had already petitioned the Senate President, Akpabio to intercede on their behalf by impressing on President Tinubu to give Ndigbo more ministerial appointments.

He said that while they are waiting to hear from Akpabio, they would continue to step up the agitation.

“We have asked for more ministerial positions and the Senate President, Akpabio has assured that he will meet with President Tinubu to address the injustice. We’ll be patient to know the feedback the Senate President is going to bring back to us but we are not going to rest but will continue to agitate in the right way so that the South East will not continue to be put at the background.

“In fact, some zones have up to 10 ministerial slots but we have only 5.  That is the height of injustice but we’ll continue to negotiate and dialogue because Nigeria has a Constitution and government is governed by the Constitution,” he said.
