The newly appointed minister of Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, has warned that his administration at the ministry will not waste Federal Government’s resources, saying the ministry at the course of discharging its duties will ensure that the cycle of projects execution is duly followed.
Adamu stated this yesterday in Abuja on his assumption of office with the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Rabi Jimeta.
He stressed that there will be no cutting corners and unnecessary fast-tracking in the implementation of projects, which have in the past led to badly executed projects.
In this vein, he said close attention will be paid to planning of all projects embarked upon by the ministry to ensure that resources are adequately managed.

“There will be no cutting corners, there will be processes, no unnecessary fast tracking of projects, we are not in the kind of situation to quickly show a project even when it is badly handled.
“I am going to pay attention to serious planning of projects and we are going to follow the planning projects as it is, if we have to do pre-feasibility we do it, we go to feasibility, we go to preliminary designs, go through all we need to do until we get the final document.
“There will be no unnecessary fast tracking of projects that will end up badly planned or badly executed and money wasted for the country.”

He wondered why projects should be rushed, saying: “We have all the time in the world, it doesn’t matter if we can finish it, at least we will take it to a level. Government is a continuous process but we are not here to waste government’s resources at least take note of that.”
However, he urged all stakeholders and departments in the Ministry, to imbibe the spirit of teamwork to achieve the desired change, saying everybody must do his own part to ensure that we succeed.
The permanent secretary on her part, said she will not let the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari down as she is in a familiar terrain which will make for easy understanding of the running of the ministry.
