Vice President Kashim Shettima alongside deputy governor of Borno state, Umar Usman Kadafur and Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai I bn Umaru El Kanemi Iwere among thousands sympathisers attended the funeral rite of late Professor of Community Medicine, Emeritus Umaru Shehu.
Emeritus Shehu died at the age of 97 and left behind his immediate family, the people of Borno and Nigeria in general.
The funeral prayer was performed by Chief Imam of Borno, Imam Zannah Laisu Ibrahim Ahmad.
The funeral prayer took place at the deceased residence in GRA, Maiduguri.
The deputy governor expressed his shock over the demise of the academic titan and giant while praying Allah for the repose soul of the deceased in Jannatul Firdausi and to grant his immediate family the fortitude and courage to bear the irreparable loss.
Other dignitaries who attended the funeral prayer were former President of the Senate, Ahmed Lawan, Senate Chief whip, Sen.Mohammed Ali Ndume, Sen.MT Monguno, Sen.Kaka Shehu Lawan, Speaker of the Borno state House of Assembly Abdulkareem Lawan, former minister of FCT, Arc. Ibrahim Bunu, vice chancellors of Unimaid and BOSU, traditional rulers among other prominent personalities.
