Volume of transactions increases by 34.58%

Volume of transactions on the fl oor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday increases by 34.58 per cent. Th e NSE trading result showed that volume of activities rose by 107.659 million as investors traded 418.935 million shares worth N4.962 billion in 3944 deals against 311.276 million shares valued at N9.778 billion exchanged hands in 4194 deals. Th e result showed that market capitalisation of listed equities improved by N63 billion Or 0.64 per cent to N9.841 trillion from N9.778 trillion traded the previous day.

Also the NSE All Share Index also went up by 181.18 basis points to 28,467.61 points from 28286.43 recorded the previous day. An analysis of the investment showed that Nestle Nigeria Plc led gainers table during the day, gaining N20.00 to close at N870.00, Stanbic IBTC followed with a gain of N1.00 to close at N26.01 kobo. Guaranty Trust Bank advanced by N1.00 to close at N33.60 kobo, Glaxosmith gained N0.80 kobo to close at N16.80 kobo while UAC of Nigeria appreciated by N0.65 kobo to close at N14.98 kobo. Mobil oil on the other hand recorded the highest loss for the day, shedding N15.77 kobo to close at N299.63 kobo, PZ Industry trailed with a loss of N1.15 kobo to close at N17.85 kobo, Nigerian Breweries felled by N1.00 to close at N145.00, Cap Plc down by N0.25 kobo to close at N34.25 kobo and Oando Plc sheds N0.19 kobo to close at N8.36 kobo.

Th e report however showed that Access Bank of the banking subsector was the most active for the day, trading 106.399 million shares worth N798.863 million, GTBank followed with account of 51.863 million shares valued at N1.735 billion, Diamond Bank traded 31.472 million shares cost N27.981 million, Stanbic IBTC sold 30.771 million shares valued at N800.042 million while FBNHoldings exchanged 23.527 million shares worth N103.570 million
