The Acting Zonal Director, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Kaduna Zonal Directorate, Bawa Usman Kaltungo on Friday said visa racketeering, cybercrimes and illegal mining are becoming alarming among the youths in Kaduna state and has called for collaboration with the media to enlighten the public on the danger of such crimes.
This was made known when he visited the secretariat of Kaduna state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) along with his management team on a courtesy call.
Kaltungo who was newly posted to the Zonal Directorate expressed gratitude to the NUJ members for the support and cooperation given to the commission over the years and pleaded that the support should be sustained for the good of the society.
He said visa racketeering is more rampant, especially during lesser Hajj and during pilgrimage, resulting in several people being duped.
“So we want to use this opportunity to appeal to couples to advise themselves to desist from such act to avoid embarrassing arrest and prosecution”, he said.
The Chairman of Kaduna state Chapter of NUJ, Abdulgafar Alabelewe, assured the EFCC Director of the union’s support to the commission in its activities.
