Vetter nails second-longest javelin throw ever

Germany’s Johannes Vetter produced the second longest javelin throw in history with a 94.44m eff ort in Lucerne . Th e world record of 98.48m was set by Czech legend Jan Zelezny in 1996. Th e 24-year-old Vetter’s performance bettered his compatriot and Olympic champion Th omas Roehler’s mark of 93.90m in Doha in May. It was also the fourth consecutive throw of over 90m on the day for Vetter, and he threw 93.06 with his third eff ort. In Lucerne Roehler had to settle for second with a best throw of 85.60m
