Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned prospective candidates for the 2018 unified tertiary matriculation examinations (UTME) to steer clear of fake past questions that were being circulated with the intention to dupe unsuspecting candidates.
JAMB’s head of media, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, gave the warning yesterday in Abuja in a chat with Blueprint.
Benjamin said the fake past questions in CD Rom entitled: “JAMB PRO CBT Practice Software for UTME” was purported to have emanated from JAMB in other to give credence to its marketers and perpetuate their nefarious activities.
He further said the board had not authorised anybody or group to do so on its behalf, adding that preliminary investigation conducted “shows that the past questions are fake and have no iota of semblance to the board’s question papers in any form.”
“The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board wish to dissociate its self from the production and sale of the fake CD and warned the public to be vigilant and avoid being defrauded.
“The board as a responsible and responsive organisation would not be part of any ploy to defraud innocent candidate and has put machinery in motion for any of her outlets and service providers not be used as channel of exploitation or distribution of such fake items,” he said.
The board has, therefore, directed all its CBT centres to shun the CD in circulation, reassuring the public that it would continue to ensure that candidates for its examinations are not misled. He said in the past, some brilliant candidates failed their examinations because of such fraud, so advised candidates to study hard for the examination and channel all enquiries to any of the board offices nationwide for any challenges they may face.
