Updated: APC upholds expulsion of national vice chairman over anti-party activities

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has upheld expulsion of the party’s National Vice Chairman (North West), Inuwa Abdulkadir over anti-party activities.

The disciplinary actions had earlier been taken by the Magajin Gari “A” ward, Sokoto North local government, and the party’s Sokoto state Executive Committee on the national vice chairman alleging that he has not been an APC member at heart.

The ward had sequel to the allegation melted out punishment and communicated same to the Sokoto executive committee of the party which subsequently passed on their recommendation to the NWC for ratification.

But in a statement signed Thursday in Abuja by the party’s national publicity secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, said the decision to uphold the actions of the Sokoto APC organs was taken at a meeting of the NWC held at the party’s national secretariat Thursday.

The statement said: “Abdulkadir failed to utilise the opportunity to defend himself before the disciplinary committee set up by the NWC to look into the various petitions received against certain members of our party.

“Following the suspension of Abdulkadir, the NWC will subsequently forward the decision of the Sokoto state organs to the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) for further actions.”

Blueprint learnt that Inuwa Abdulkadir had earlier verbally and through a formal letter forwarded to the APC deputy national chairman, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, informed the party of his inability to appear before the panel.

He had said because of the pending court case involving himself and the Sokoto APC over same matter over which he was invited to appear, he would be unable to honour the verbal invitation.

Further, in a letter to that effect he said: “On this note, I did make it categorically clear that it was not feasible for me to be in Abuja on Thursday 4th July, 2019, as the date coincides with my appearance before the Sokoto state High Court on the same issue.

“It is apt to emphasize that the process of the High Court in suit No: ss/33/2019 filed on the 31st May, 2019 have been served on our party (APC) as 1st defendant as well as the 3rd and 4th defendants as far back as 3rd of June, 2019, leaving only the national chairman, Comrades Adams Oshiomhole (as the 2nd defendant) to be served.”
