UNICEF renovates, hands over 7 PHC clinics in Adamawa

United Nation children funds (UNICEF) has renovated, upgraded and handed over seven primary health care clinics in Adamawa to support government’s efforts towards effective primary health care system in the state.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony of some of the clinics Monday in Yola, UNICEF chief of field office for Bauchi,  Bhanu Pathak,  represented by Dr Halima Abdu  said the gesture was in line with the mandate of ensuring survival, development and protection of the rights of children.

She stated further that in 2017, UNICEF received support from the European Union to support 3 northern states including Adamawa to implement health care services which led to the 24 hours functional of 226 PHC centres, training of over 1,130  health workers on different  PHC service.

Others are provision of equipments, motorcycles and essential medicines worth 1,856,643.65 USD distributed to the 226 PHCS and provision of a mobile storage unit worth 14,000 USD among many other efforts.

She reiterated the commitments of UNICEF to fulfil all its obligations  and continue to work together with the state government to improved the primary health care sector of the state.

Even as  she tasked the people  of the community and the staff of the clinics to compliment this efforts by taking care of the facilities in the overall interest  of the general public.

Most of those who spoke at the event include the executive secretary of Adamawa state Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Chairman, Yola south, community leaders, among others. They commended UNICEF for the life saving interventions and called for more projects.
