UNICAL recalls lecturer suspended for alleged rape

 

The management of the University of Calabar, UNICAL) has reinstated a lecturer, Prof Cyril Ndifon, who was suspended for allegedly raping a student.
Ndifon, a former Dean, Faculty of Law of the university, was accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400 level student in 2015.
According to reports, the lecturer had torn the student’s scripts in the classroom and then invited her to his office where he forcibly had carnal knowledge of her.
Following the allegation raised by the mother of the victim, Mrs. Irene Akpan against the don, the university management, in accordance with the institution’s rules, suspended him on September 10, 2015, even as the police began investigation into the allegation.
In a letter sent to the university, Mrs. Akpan said the don forcibly had sex with her daughter on August 29 between 3 and 5pm at Ndifon’s private office in the faculty building.
