The management of University of Benin (UNIBEN) has inaugurated a committee to investigate allegations of sexual harassment against a Professor in the Faculty of Arts.
This was contained in a circular issued by the secretary of the investigation committee, Barr. B. D. Jonathan.
The committee urged staff and students with relevant information or has experienced any incident related to the allegation to come forward and share with it.
According to the circular, “the information will assist the committee in ensuring a thorough and fair investigation.
“Be rest assured that your identity will be protected, and all information will be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
Blueprint gathered that the institution took the decision after a graduate of the university took to social media and called out the lecturer.
The university alumnus alleged that she suffered untold sexual harassment from the said professor during her undergraduate studies.
