Nigerian starlet Sadiq Umar on Saturday made his Serie A debut for AS Roma in the 2-2 away draw at Bologna in a highly entertaining game.
The 18-year-old came on for Juan Iturbe in the 89th minute as the home side forced AS Roma to a draw at the 35 000 capacity Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
Adam Masina had given Bologna the lead in the 14th minute of the game but a Miralem Pjanic penalty in the 52nd minute drew the Rome side level.
Edin Dzeko then put Roma ahead with yet another spot kick in the 72nd minute but Bologna replied with a penalty 15 minutes after Dzeko’s goal to tie the game at 2-2.
Umar’s debut comes after making six match day squads for the Giallorossi this season and being an integral part of their Primavera squad that took part in the Uefa Youth League.
The Kaduna-born player has been in good form since his move from AC Spezia to AS Roma. Umar has scored three goals in four Uefa Youth League games with two assists.
He has eight goals in 13 games for AS Roma in all competitions this season and is tipped be to be an integral part of the Rome side in years to come.
