Umahi orders removal, arrest of Ebonyi LG coordinator over alleged murder

The Ebonyi state Governor, Chief David Umahi, Sunday ordered the immediate removal of the coordinator of Ubeyi development center of Afikpo North local government area.

The coordinator, Mr Uchenna Ibiam who was removed alongside his younger brother Mr Ibiam Ibiam, Technical Assistant (T.A) to the governor on Security was said to have allegedly killed his cousin one Mr Enyinnaya Ibiam Uche on Friday afternoon during Peoples Democratic party (PDP) primary elections for delegates and councilors.

Mr Uchenna was said to have attempted to shot his younger brother Ibiam Ibiam who opposed his choice of candidature for the councillorship of Unwana ward ‘A’ but when he dodged the bullet it got late Enyinnaya who was said to have died on the spot.

This led to the removal of the two brothers according to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government SSG, Dr Kenneth Ugbala.

The statement reads in parts: ” Governor  Umahi has directed the immediate removal from office and arrest of the Coordinator Ubeyi Development Centre, Hon. Uche Ibiam and Mr. Ibiam Ibiam Ogbonnaya Junior, (aka Terror) Technical Assistant (T.A) to Governor on Security, for allegedly being involved  in a murder case.

“The Governor further directed that security agents should carry out full investigation and prosecute all those found guilty in accordance to the law.”

Meanwhile the spokesperson of the Ebonyi state police command, Loveth Odah still maintained that no arrest has been made.

” No arrest has been made, we are still investigating the matter, ” she said.
