Uju absolved from Owerri Market crisis

A community leader from Oguta LGA, Hon. Uche Okafor, has exonerated the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor (Operations)and Chairman, Bureau for Lands, Hon. Engr. Kingsley Uju, from the crisis arising from the demolition of Owerri Main Market, recently.

Speaking with our correspondent, he said that the militants from Ohaji Egbema who were present on that day took part not necessarily because of Engr. Uju but to support Governor Rochas Okorocha and his urban renewal programme due to the amnesty he had granted them earlier.

He disclosed that the militants had been fond of the governor since the amnesty programme started and had been looking for an opportunity to show gratitude to the governor for coming out bold to identify with them.

He described Uju as “a hard working and an accomplished gentleman” who would not like to smear his name in anything that would bring controversy.

Meanwhile, Uju has called on the people of the state to be law abiding and embrace peace and harmony in all their activities.

He made the call while addressing political leaders of Ohaji Egbema All Progressives Congress (APC) in Owerri on the need to give their unalloyed support for the development of the state.

He enjoined the political leaders to be ambassadors of peace and love in order to get the benefits ahead of them in the state as Oil Producing Area.

Uju also seized the opportunity afforded by the meeting to inform them that the governor had good intentions for them in his developmental efforts and that very soon they would start reaping from the legacies of the present administration as the expectation of the governor was not to witch-hunt anybody but to make Imo a better place for all to live in.

“Therefore, we must all join our hands together to help actualise the Rescue Mission Agenda.”
