UAG lauds military renewed onslaughts against oil thieves, other criminal elements

A non-partisan advocacy group, the Unity Advocacy Group (UAG) has hailed the military for its onslaughts against oil thieves in the Niger Delta and criminal elements in other parts of country, saying ” it is a big boost to the economic recovery plans of the present administration.”
This is as the group also hailed the military for the establishment of a military base in Bokkos, Plateau state and redeployment of more troops to Ekiti to check insecurity in the areas.

UAG in a press release signed by the Convener Ifeanyi Aigbedion on Sunday, expressed confidence in the troop’s ability to overcome economic saboteurs and other security challenges in other parts of the country.

The DHQ recently disclosed that in the month of January 2024, troops neutralized 266 terrorists, arrested 463 violent extremists/insurgents and rescued 116 kidnapped hostages.

According UAG, “We are glad to hear that in the month of Jan 24, troops operating in the SS, denied the oil theft of the estimated sum of Two Billion Eight Hundred and Twenty One Million Five Hundred and Three Thousand and Nine Hundred Sixty Two Naira (N2,821,503,962.00).

“This is a massive effort by the Armed Forces of Nigeria. The AFN onslaught against oil thieves is a big boost to the economic recovery plans of the present administration.

“Meanwhile, we are gladden with the approval given by President Bola Tinubu for the establishment of a Military Barracks to be located in Miller Farm (Gada Biyu) Mbar District Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

“The deployment of a detachment of military personnel to Ekiti state to combat the activities of kidnappers, bandits and other criminals is a welcome development. This deployment will flush out criminals from their hide-outs in the forest reserves across the borders of Kogi, Kwara, Osun and Ondo states.

“We urge Nigerians to support the good work and sacrifices of troops under the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa. We will definitely get out of this security challenge.

“We also use this opportunity to speak to the mind of terrorists, bandits and other criminals, the military will come for you. This is time to repent and turn a new leaf,” UAG added.
