This year’s U20 AFCON has suffered yet another setback after Cote d’Ivoire pulled out as hosts.
The Ivorian government, which staged a memorable delayed 2023 AFCON last year, has asked the Ivorian football federation FIF to formally contact CAF that the country will no longer host the tournament.
This development may now force the tournament to be delayed.
The Flying Eagles have qualified for the tournament, which was initially to be hosted by South Africa.
The WAFU B champions are drawn in a first round group with Morocco, Egypt and South Africa.
The semifinalists of the competition will represent Africa at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile in October.
