Turkish club bid for Nigeria’s Gift Orban

Trabzonspor have submitted an offer for Olympique Lyonnais forward Gift Orban (22), according to a report from Sacha Tavolieri.

Whilst the transfer window in France is now closed, the Turkish window remains open until 13th September. Before the closure of the window, Trabzonspor are looking to strengthen their attacking options and have therefore placed a bid for Orban. The bid is a loan deal, worth €1m, that would then have an obligation to make the deal permanent for an extra €6m, should certain conditions be met.

Trabzonspor would be obliged to sign the Nigerian striker in the event that they win the Turkish league and that the player nets 20 league goals. Tavolieri understands that the deal is potentially “interesting” to Lyon, however, it remains to be seen whether they would deem the offer acceptable.

Following the arrival of Georges Mikautadze earlier in the summer, OL were keen to offload Orban. However, with the Georgian striker struggling to hit the ground running and with Orban netting an all-important brace against RC Strasbourg Alsace last weekend, OL may yet change their mind on the striker’s future.
