TSU joins NNPC, others on biofuel, others

The Taraba State University, Jalingo has planned a partnership with The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Praj Industries Ltd India and Geron Oil and Gas as part of her Public Private Partnership for the production of biofuel and other by-products of significant economic value.
The vice chancellor of the University Prof. Vincent Tenebe disclosed this yesterday in Jalingo, the state capital when he said the partnership will offer job opportunities for Taraba youths and appealed to the governor to approve land for the project.
According to him, the University has also gone into partnership with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) to train Taraba youth on various skills for absorption into the Mambilla Hydro Power Project when the project takes-off in ernest.
Tenebe disclosed all these on yesterday when he spoke at the opening ceremony of a workshop on Effective Leadership at the local government level organised by the University for elected chairmen and councilors in Taraba state held at the University’s twin lecture theatre.
Explaining in details, Prof Tenebe said the youths would be trained as security guards, drivers, bricklayers, masons, cooks, mechanics, facility managers and other skills that may be useful for the Mambila hydro electric project, which is expected to start soon.
In his speech the state Governor Darius Ishaku said capacity building for people in leadership positions was key in the quest to instil good and effective governance at all levels both in the public and private sector.
